“A Heartwarming Tradition: Toddler’s Touching Recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance”
Amidst the evolving landscape, one tradition remains steadfast – the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the school flag each morning.
Lacey Nicole Holmes, a proud Texas parent, recently shared a poignant video on Facebook that has moved many viewers to tears. The video captures her two-and-a-half-year-old son reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in the comfort of their living room.
Dressed in a monster truck t-shirt, the young boy stands with his right hand over his heart, ready to showcase what he’s learned. Before commencing his heartwarming performance, he instructs his mother to start recording. Though there’s no visible American flag in the video, the toddler gazes upward, as if envisioning one in the background.
While his pronunciation may not be flawless, it’s evident that this child has memorized the Pledge of Allegiance. The way he articulates the words is undeniably adorable.
Originally penned in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, the Pledge of Allegiance has undergone modifications. The initial version lacked the phrase “under God” and centered around loyalty to the flag and the Republic it symbolized. “The flag of the United States of America” was incorporated in 1923, and “under God” was added in 1954.
This heartwarming video serves as a poignant reminder of the early seeds of patriotism and love for our country sown in the hearts of the youngest among us.
