After three years of following Kat’s journey as she battled societal expectations and her mother’s influence to prove that true happiness can be found even when you can’t have it all, the program’s termination was a surprise earlier this month.
Call Me Kat has gotten mixed reviews since its release, and the first season had a Metacritic score of 41 out of 100. Despite this, the show was nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, and it was nominated again the following year for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.
According to Variety, the network was aware of the show’s reaction, which was critical to terminating it. “We are incredibly proud of Call Me Kat,” the network said in an official statement.
