Young Refugee Boy Mesmerizes Judges with His Rendition of Celine Dion’s Classic

It’s truly disheartening to consider that some children are compelled to come of age in nations plagued by war, poverty, and perpetual uncertainty. Regrettably, numerous children worldwide find themselves thrust into such a reality from a tender age. This is precisely the plight that befell young Abu and his family, prompting them to flee their homeland, Afghanistan.

With his parents and siblings, Abu left behind their extended family and the only country he had ever known. Despite enduring a tumultuous childhood, Abu held on to a song that resonated deeply with him, a performance from The Voice in 2018.

Attempting to embrace his new circumstances, Abu faced the challenges of adapting to a different culture and the difficulties of forming new connections. Despite the cultural shock and the struggle to forge new friendships, Abu generally maintained an optimistic outlook on his new life. Yet, he was resolute in not letting go of the memories of the hardships his family had endured and the unwavering strength they had shown for him.

When The Voice Kids announced auditions, Abu was overjoyed to seize the opportunity.
